“Viagra, the first drug to treat impotence, was first approved by the FDA in 1998, and its use has since been permitted off-label for the treatment of erectile dysfunction in men. These findings raise the possibility that Viagra could have a very similar effect to that of Sildenafil in treating impotence,” said lead author Dr. Nisetha Rajenderam, lead author of the study.
“Since the development of Viagra in 1998, it has been FDA-approved for the treatment of erectile dysfunction. We believe that our findings support the potential benefits of Viagra for impotence treatment, as well as Viagra for impotence, and that it may have broader implications for the treatment of other conditions, such as premature ejaculation,” said Dr. Rajenderam in a statement. “This study provides further support for the potential benefits of Viagra in the treatment of erectile dysfunction.”
